Churchill" at the end), being a Royal Licence, granting Geoffrey Parker permission to accept and wear the Insignia of the Fourth Class of the Imperial Ottoman Order of the Medjidieh ("...Whereas His Highness the Khedive of Egypt, authorized by His Imperial Majesty the Sultan of Turkey, has been pleased to confer upon you the Insignia of the Fourth Class of the Imperial Ottoman Order of the Medjidieh, in recognition of valuable services rendered by you: And We being Graciously Pleased to approve thereof..."), 3 pages, printed with manuscript insertions, impressed royal seal, docketed, horizontal folds, very lightly dust-stained but overall in fine condition, folio, Sandringham, 14 January 1911

  • Signed by Churchill in his capacity as Home Secretary and by the King in the first year of his reign, royal permission being required for the wearing of foreign orders and decorations. Geoffrey Parker (1880-1954) was Private Secretary to the Advisor, Ministry of Public Works, Egypt, later rising to become Inspector-General of Sudan Irrigation (Edinburgh Gazette, 28 February 1911 and 25 August 1931).
