PALMER (SAMUEL)
Autograph letter signed ("S. Palmer"), to the picture dealer and author Henry Mogford FSA, regretting that he does not have anything "at liberty" in response to his circular for his winter exhibition, but will send what he can ("...in that case the utmost I can manage will be two small works..."), one page, laid on card, 8vo, Douro Place, Victoria Road, Kensington, 23 October 1854

Footnotes

  • This attractive letter is not published in The Letters of Samuel Palmer edited by Raymond Lister (1974). At this time, Palmer was much occupied with etching and that year started work on the plate of The Sleeping Shepherd (1854-7), which echoes his earlier Shoreham works.
