'The girls are fulfilling their "natural" role as supportive daughters, consolidating and carrying forward the memory of their deceased mother (Cameron's daughter Julia Norman who died aged 34 during childbirth leaving 6 children behind). Trimmed by Cameron into tondo shapes, further emphasizing the togetherness of the family, these images express Cameron's own grief at her death.'
