Of typical form, the detachable rectangular panel supported within a conventional frame and decorated in Shibayama-style on one side with a pair of cranes besides flowering peony shrubs, the other carved in low relief with shishimai dancers and a group of boisterous karako enjoying the New Year games and festivities, the ivory frame and feet carved with foliage, scrolling tendrils and a ho-o in flight, unsigned. 23.1cm x 23.5cm (9 1/16in x 9¼in).
