Darvish 'Abd al-Majid Taliqani is the most celebrated shikasteh calligrapher, whose work was widely copied by later scribes. This is a rare example of his writing in large scale. He was from Taliqan but moved to Isfahan where he was much respected and wrote many calligraphic pages for nobles of the city. He was also a poet with the pen-name Khamush and died in 1771. See Mehdi Bayani, ahval va asar-e khosh-nevisan, vol. IV, Teheran, 1358 sh., pp. 252-4.
