A shield shaped medal to the obverse with 'GLASGOW CHARITY CUP 1895', the reverse engraved CELTIC F.C. WON BY T.MORRISON', hallmarked, 15ct gold, ring suspension. Length approx. 43mm.
Thomas "Tommy" Morrison (1874 1940), also known as Ching Morrison started his career at Glentoran before transferring to Burnley in March 1894. Early the following season he was dismissed by Burnley for misconduct. He then had another spell with Glentoran before Celtic, helping the Bhoys win the 1895 championship. He is credited with being the first Irishman to play for Celtic, eventually returning to Burnley in February 1897. He remained at Burnley until the 190203 season when he signed for Manchester United where he gained the distinction of being Manchester United's first Irish player.
