'The Goose Girl' a Spectacular Pair of Faience Vases, circa 1900
each painted with a maiden with cascading golden hair, a gaggle of geese at her feet. To one vase a young man is depicted running to catch his wind blown hat.
50.5cm high, each titled and signed by the artist (2)

  • The verse to one vase reads: 'Oh wind, blow Conrad's hat away, make him run after it as it flies, while twith my gold hair will play, and twist it up in seemly wise'
    The verse to the companion vase reads: 'O Faleda dost thou hang there?' 'Princess, dost thou so meanly fare? But if thy mother knew thy pain, Her heart would surely break in twain'

    These Vases were item 10 in the 1975 Richard Dennis Doulton Exhibition.
