Fergusson produced a number of harbour views in Royan in 1910, on that occasion accompanied by Peploe and Anne Estelle Rice. Although they worked side by side on the quais, Fergusson's interpretations are altogether more progressive than Peploe's. The dark outlining, blocks of pure colour and strong sense of design and structure betray his familiarity with current French advances, yet the style is his own.
