Footnotes

  • Guardsman Michael Burke was born at Insowl Co.Sligo. He enlisted on 4th September 1914 at Ayr. He landed in France on 23.1.1915. He died of wounds at Givenchy, on 1st August 1915, as a result of a premature explosion of a bomb. He is buried in Chocques Military Cemetry. He is entitled to a 1914-15 star trio. Sold with copies of the war diary, photographs of his gravestone etc.
