  • Provenance: By direct decent.
    According to the provenance, some provided directly by Ackworth School, Mary Coleby was born in 1784 to John Coleby and Sarah (née Hart) in Poringland, near Norwich. Mary was one of eight children, six of whom attended Ackworth. Copies of the Bills of Admission to Ackworth, dated 1794, of Mary and two of her brothers are included in the lot. Also included is a chart detailing Mary, her siblings and nieces and nephews, some of whom also attended Ackworth and went on to marry prominent members of the Quaker community. In 1807 Mary married Thomas Pace, one of their children being Mary, whose birth certificate is included within the lot. A family tree and associated photograph is also included.
