Late 18th Century
Comprising top with domed skull chased overall with symmetrical designs of gold-damascened flower-heads and arabesques, the brim with two bands of gold-damascened flowering foliage, fitted with two gold-damascened faceted tubular plume-holders, adjustable nasal with pierced finial of sarpech form, threaded stout central spike of hollowed diamond section on a circular mount damascened with gold foliage, and vandyked camail of small butted brass and steel rings linked together to create a design of alternating rows of diamonds, retaining its original padded purple velvet lining embroidered with stars and foliage in silver thread, mail shirt and rare pair of leggings en suite, the former of knee-length with long sleeves, open up the front and with standing collar of larger rings reinforced with leather thongs, char aina of four rectangular plates buckled together, and hinged dastana shaped to the fore-arms, all decorated en suite with the top and retaining their embroidered purple velvet linings, the dastanas each with red velvet-covered hand-defence lined en suite and decorated with a scaled design of small gilt-copper studs, together with an Indian circular steel dhal of convex form, with four pierced and gold-damascened bosses, the border chiselled with gold-damascened bands of symmetrical arabesques and flower-heads, the interior retaining its original brown velvet lining embroidered with foliage in silver thread, and with velvet-covered pad and braces en suite: on a wooden stand
