Footnotes

  • The little girl in this composition is quite possibly Muriel Evelyn Heseltine (b.1883), daughter of Evelyn Heseltine of Great Warley. The St Mary the Virgin Church in Great Warley is one of only three Art Nouveau style churches in the country, the money from which it was built, having been donated by the Heseltine family in 1902.

Muriel was married in about 1919 to Cecil Henry de Rougement, who in turn had two children, Irving and Denys. The latter was the Rector of the Parish Church at Great Warley between 1951 and 1958.
