A mid-18th Century and later oak-cased 8-day brass dial longcase clock
Thomas Lister I, Luddenden, nr Halifax, (1717-79)
Having a 12.5-inch two-piece dial, the silvered chapter ring, engraved 'Thos. Lister Luddenden', with Roman hours and Arabic minutes flanked by foliate half-hour divisions, the foliage-engraved centre with silvered subsidiary seconds dial over a terrestrial calendar crescent, all within mask-and foliate scroll-cast spandrels and foliage-engraved outer border, the later arch with silvered Tempus Fugit boss and engraved eagle, the knopped four-pillar movement with anchor escapement, rack-striking on a bell, associated later carved case having a broken-arched hood over fluted columns, the yoke-topped long trunk door on panelled base and bracket feet, 222cm, (87") high, (sold with two weights, pendulum and winder)
