A Victorian silver and ivory presentation trowel, mortar and set square
by Edward Hutton, London 1884
The trowel with a floral engraved border to the presentation inscription, carved ivory handle, length 31.5cm, the carved mortar with an applied monogrammed silver plaque, height 14.5cm together with a plain ivory set square, plush velvet case.

  • The trowel is inscribed "Presented to, the Countess of, Stamford & Warrington, on the, occasion of her laying the, first memorial stone, of the, New Tower of the Parish Church, Ashton under Lyne, June 28th 1886".

    The mortar plaque monogram is "C.S.M."
