The upper section of the box brightly enamelled with depictions of lion dogs chasing balls, set within a ruyi key border, and adorned with four pale green jade or jadeite carvings of auspicious characters, the exterior and interior of the base boldly enamelled with a series of flowering chrysanthemum, encompassing stylised illustrations of precious objects and carp, all set before a turquoise ground, within gilt metal rim borders;
