    Thence by descent

The list of wedding presents for Miss Fordyce Buchan of Kelloe published in The Berwickshire News includes: 'The Hon. Lady Miller - Russian enamel clock.' The marriage of Mr Francis Stewart Hay of Duns Castle and Miss Fordyce Buchan of Kelloe, the neighbouring estate in Berwickshire took place on 17th October 1903 and was recorded in great detail.

The Hon. Lady Miller, née the Hon. Eveline Curzon in 1864, daughter of 4th Baron of Scarsdale, was the wife of Sir James Miller of Manderston, 2nd Bt., who had considerable trading interests with Russia in the latter part of the 19th century. Both Sir James Miller's grandfather, also James, and father, Sir William Miller, 1st Bt., had traded with Imperial Russia throughout the 19th century. The latter served as British vice-consul in St. Petersburg in the 19th century.
