    Scotsman, Eric Chalmers Brown (1925-1986) represented GB & I in four Ryder Cups, 1953, 1955, 1957 and 1959 and was the non playing Captain in 1969 and 1971.
    Knave of Clubs: 'To the best of my recollection I have had a hole in one only 5 times and once only in a tournament or championship. That was at Belvoir Park, Belfast, at the Irish Open Championship in 1953. That 'ace' helped me to win the championship and the highest price, £700, of my career so far...'

    The Irish Golf Open, inaugurated in 1927 is one of the oldest Golf Tournaments on the European Tour. Due to financial difficulties the Irish Open was only played for once (1953) between 1950 and 1975.
