  • Isabella Maria Brisbane (1821-1849) was the daughter of New South Wales Governor, Major-General Sir Thomas Makdougall Brisbane (1773–1860) who was born in Ayrshire, Scotland. Brisbane was appointed Governor of New South Wales in 1821 on the recommendation of the Duke of Wellington until 1825. The Canberra suburb of Isabella Plains is named after the present sitter.
