Attributed to the Dutch East India Company: A good early 18th Century Batavian brass-mounted hardwood desk on stand
The upper section of slope-front design, having six pierced and engraved mounts framing studwork and a similar central medallion, enclosing two shelves, the body with engraved brass corner mounts and cast bale handles with finely pierced backplates, raised on two stepped registers, the uppermost with single drawer, the lower with two, separated by moulded aprons, the whole raised on stylised ball and claw feet united by a wavy X-stretcher with central lozenge and turned ornament, 64cm wide x 47cm deep x 69cm high, (25in wide x 18.5in deep x 27in high) (sold with key)
