A fine bronze flaring beaker vessel, gu
Shang Dynasty
The surface of the wide flaring neck and lower section almost all under an attractive shallow pale malachite and speckled brown patination, the neck cast with leiwen lappets rising from a pair of taotie in a shallow band, the central section cast with four vertical flanges at the compass points dividing two similar taller masks, the spreading high foot with similar larger surface casting, the interior of the foot cast with a two-figure pictogram.
