A tachi and a tanto in carved mounts

The first mounted in ivory, the saya and tsuka carved in relief with scenes of battling warriors, some depicted on foot, others on horseback, the two ashikanamono decorated with scrolling flowers, the tsuba carved with auspicious motifs, unsigned, 76.2cm (30in) long; the second of horse bone, carved with five of the Shichifukujin (the Seven Gods of Good Fortune), the tsuka in the form of a dragon head, with details inlaid in mother-of-pearl and aogai; signed Kounsai with kao, 35.5cm (14in) long.
