Two gilt wood Thrones
Burma, 19th Century
with square seats with raised edges and openings at front, on four feet, the front two in the form of dragons,the larger throne with dragon arms, the backs intricately carved with a panel of diaper motifs beneath a roundel of concentric circles with further circles within, the edges with ornate openwork carving depicting columns and bands of seated monks on a ground of vegetal interlace, the smaller throne with roundels on either side of the back containing a hare and an eagle, the larger throne with a band of Burmese round script at the bottom of the back, decorated in gilt and red with applied coloured glass
