Arabic manuscript on paper, 32 leaves, 8 lines to the page written in clear naskhi script in black ink with Persian instructions in blue, interlinear Persian translation in naskhi script in red, inner margins ruled in blue and gold, catchwords, commentaries in outer margins, one late 19th Century illuminated headpiece in colours and gold, some folios detached, red morocco with patterned paper panels, worn, doublures of red morocco

  • The colophon states that the manuscript was copied by Muhammad Sadiq al-Shirazi in the second ten days of Rajab, without giving the year.

    A few of Muhammad Sadiq al-Shirazi's works are recorded in various public and private collections in Iran. From the colophons of those recorded, he appears to have been known as Kalhur, and was the son of Muhammad Isma'il and flourished between 1821 and 1838-39. (See Mehdi Bayani, ahval va asar-e khosh-nevisan, vol. IV, Tehran 1358 sh., pp. 170-171).
