A good and decorative Japanese carved and stained wood, gilt lacquered, mother-of-pearl and bone mounted Shodana, early 20th century
Of upright symmetrical form, with stepped pagoda tops, fitted to the top with a pair of shaped top doors, and a single door to each corner, around three back panels over two recessed drawers centred by a pair of sliding doors, all with carved mounts of birds on and around flowering branches, the central back panel with a group of figures, behind a central galleried staircase, on a separate stand fitted with three conforming drawers, dragon carved and shaped apron with mother-of-pearl inset eyes, scroll carved supports and an open rectangular rail base, minor losses including pediment, 150cm wide, 70cm deep, 234cm high.
