Lot Details
A George III mahogany hanging display cabinet
the astragal glazed doors enclosing a silk lined interior with two shelves, the sides in stained pine, later fitted for electricity, 75cm wide x 27cm deep x 78cm high, (29.5" wide x 10.5" deep x 30.5" high)

Footnotes

  • Though normally made for hanging in the corner of a room, wall-mounted glazed cabinets with flat backs were not unprecedented in the late 18th century. Gillows of Lancaster for instance show a very similar example with this glazing pattern in their Estimate Sketch Books, page 14, dated May 1787.
