  • Though normally made for hanging in the corner of a room, wall-mounted glazed cabinets with flat backs were not unprecedented in the late 18th century. Gillows of Lancaster for instance show a very similar example with this glazing pattern in their Estimate Sketch Books, page 14, dated May 1787.
