An American silver assembled partial table suite with presentation souvenir album of Buffalo, NY interest
Gorham Mfg. Co., Providence, Rhode Island, 1868/ 1870/ 1871, retailed by Starr & Marcus
Comprising punch bowl, #70; figural punch ladle, #6; 15 1/2 pint soup tureen with cover and footed stand, #60C/#60; a pair of entree dishes with reversible covers, #60; butter dish with mazarine and cover, #510; sauce boat with cover, #60; and two handled pedestal bowl, most pieces engraved: "To Joseph Warren for Public Services, Feb. 1871" reversed with "1871" #340; approximately 340 oz. troy.

  • The souvenir book with presentation note: "Joseph Warren Esq., Dear Sir, We, whose names and photographs are herein contained, beg your acceptance of this Album and the accompanying plate for your table, and also this watch and chain, as in some degree expressive of our appreciation of the importance of the Services rendered by you in behalf of various religious, educational and charitable institutions in this City; and of your patriotic efforts to secure the adoption of measures of public utility in Buffalo and Western New York, Feb. 1871", the album now with forty photographic studio individual portraits of the donors, most accompanied with slips of paper with signatures or the names hand written. Joseph Warren, owner and editor of the Currier, served as a Park Commissioner, Superintendent of Schools and as a regional leader of the Democratic party.
