Footnotes
The present work is dateable to the 1940s when Dillon was travelling throughout the West of Ireland, observing details of everyday life and translating them to sketchbook and canvas. The present work depicts a farmer moving his livestock whilst shawled women gossip on the bridge behind and is undoubtedly a charming pastoral scene.
