Emigrants signed, numbered and dated 'A/P O'Doherty 90' (on the base) bronze with a green patina 48 cm. (19 in.) high
This piece is a maquette for the larger than life-size public sculpture by O'Doherty from 1990, which stands on the quayside in Derry City. The brief asked for a naturalistic, figurative group marking the importance of Derry Quay as a point of emigration for many thousands of Irish in the 18th and 19th centuries.
