PISSARRO, CAMILLE. 1830-1903.
Autograph Letter Signed ("C. Pissarro"), in French, 2 pp, 8vo (conjoining leaves), Olny pers Pontoise, May 6, 1883, to Paul Durand-Ruel, light creasing and toning, trace of mounting to verso of second page with small tear, matted and framed.
Paul Durand-Ruel was the most important art dealer of the Impressionist movement, and was one of the first to support his artists with stipends and solo exhibitions. In this note Pissarro submits his monthly expenses and asks Durand-Ruel to cover his debt to his framer. Translated: "More annoyances. My framer Cluzel is pressing me for money. I told him that this month it would not be easy, however I am letting you know in case you might send him a word. He seems very hard-pressed. Here then is my budget, the addition this month of 263.45 for Cluzel, in all 1263.45. Is it possible?"
