Illuminated Latin manuscript on vellum. [Italy: last third of the 15th century.] 123 leaves, 16 lines per page, brown ink, written space 73 x 55 mm, 1- and 2-line initials in alternating red and blue. 3-line gold initial on blue ground; eight 4-, 5-, or 7-line polychrome initials on gold grounds with borders of flowers and gold sprays (the two 7-line initials with three-quarters borders). FOUR PAGES WITH FULL BORDERS, these with additional inhabited initials on gold grounds and trompe l'oeil borders. 8vo (114 x 83 mm). Period blind-ruled calf. Custom quarter morocco pull-off case. Scattered rubbing, final prayer on 58r incomplete and supplied in a later hand, small hole in fol.59 with loss of a couple of letters, 58v rubbed with loss in initial and border, minor chipping to binding at edges and spine.
