Exhibited: County Museum of Art, Los Angeles 1983

First introduced in 1902, Moorcroft's 'Carp' design encapsulates his unique talent of applying design to form to a striking success, capturing the fluidity and movement of the fish in the process. Similar vases in the traditional blue and green colourways can be seen in Paul Atterbury's 'Moorcroft 1897-1993; New Edition', Dennis and Edwards, 2008, pg 45 and 46. A flambé version of this vase was offered in these rooms in the 'British Ceramic Design' auction, 23rd September, 2009, lot 228.
