finely hand-carved of deeply hollowed, round form with multiple indigenous "butterfly" (pewa), zigzag (kepakepa) and gum repairs to the surface; fine varied brown patina.
Wailuku, Maui konohiki ali'i family, the Kepoikai family. This family were the ali'i managers for the Wailuku district and the family collection of artifacts is well known and of extremely high quality.
