Footnotes

  • In 1958 Pezeshknia returned to Tehran from Abadan where he had been working for an oil company. He rented an apartment on the Sa'adi avenue which he used as his atelier during the 1950s.

It was in 1961 that the artist traveled to Europe and settled in Paris. This work dates from just after the artist arrived in the city and was clearly captivated by its lights, movements and sounds which are skillfully portrayed in this vibrant and bustling work.
