Late 18th century Spanish marbled calf gilt, red morocco spine label. Some browning, occasional trimming to rules, printing flaw with loss of a few letters on 2E3, removed stamps on title, A1, 3I3, & 3I6 mostly marginal but with a couple letters in facsimile on A1 and a few words in facsimile on 3I3, a little sunning to spine.

THIRD EDITION OF "THE FOREMOST CHRONICLE OF THE DOMINICAN ORDER AND ITS MISSIONS IN AMERICA UP TO THE END OF THE SIXTEENTH CENTURY" (Catholic Encyclopedia). Stated second impression of this rare history of early Mexico written by a native of Mexico City. Dávila Padilla held the chairs of philosophy and theology at Puebla and Mexico. He was made Bishop of Santo Domingo in 1601. Collates correctly according to Palau. Palau 68982; Sabin 18781.
