Olmec Standing Stone Figure,
Middle Preclassic, ca. 900 - 600 B.C.
height 6 1/4in (16cm)
bluntly carved, with the diminutive legs separated and arms connected to its sides, wearing a raised, incised and drilled collar and a raised and incised belt, the head, ritually broken and slightly tilted right, sunken into the shoulders, the carved, facial features with a furrowed brow above a trapezoidal nose above a transformational mouth, all accented with linear incisions.
