Montol Standing Figure, Nigeria

standing slightly forward on bent legs which gradually taper downward from the voluminous hips that support an attenuated torso with pointed and pierced naval, framed by broad shoulders that balance with the hips, and arms tapering down and bending forward with notched hands, the barrel neck supporting an elliptical, ovoid head with squared, pierced ears and flat coiffure, drilled at the top in the center and on the center of the forehead, above a minimalistic, yet expressive face, drilled at the eyes, nostrils and mouth; varied aged dark brown patina with faint remnants of red pigment; broken and restored at the right elbow.
