RARE PEDESTAL BOWL, HAWAIIAN ISLANDS.
diameter 11 3/4in, height 4 7/8in
probably kou wood, with very thin walls and an ornately carved "H" medallion with flowers on each side; repair with two butterfly patches.
Possibly monarchy period, and the work of one of the German cabinetmakers known for presentation pedestal bowls with carved medallions.
