A fine and early silver-gilt and enamel singing bird box,

No. 281, with capital stamped signature to motor plate, signed in hand to spring loafer with Charles Bruguier, Rue des Paquet 5 á Geneva, Suiss, the number inscribed to case base interior several times, with the fusee movement on seven-turn chain wheel, eight cam-stack, rectangular bellows and fan governor, the bird with predominant hues of turquoise and dark brown feathered plumage, with red and green iridescent highlights, moving beak, head, wings and tailfeather to rare and unusual 1-1-2-2-3-3-4-4 sequence bird song, rising through pierced gilt grille, the lid interior with painted enamel of a floral spray on clipper blue ground, in the silver-gilt case with the bird lid bearing oval domed enamel painted scene of a Bavarian castle beside a lake with sailing boats, heather and tree-lined hills beyond, a lone figure walking beside the shore in the foreground, flanked by tall pine trees meeting at the canopy, clouds tinted with red against the blue sky, mitred tooled border, the main lid with the four shaped corner enamel infils in dark blue each with flower heads, intertwining leaves in green and line borders in white enamels against busy petit-point work ground, the sides with raised stylised floral band before scroll and leaf panels on triple wave-line tooling, shaped corners with double-indent profile, the underside with large engraved cartouche, daisy-head spandrels, winding hole top right, with hidden key compartment at the back, start/stop gilt button front-center right, with a later key -
