No. 423, indistinctly stamped with maker's mark, Paris export marks, with superb single-air cylinder movement with early-type double ratchet spring-top spring barrel, the straight-tipped 33-part sectional comb with teeth in groups of two, tuned in 3-3-2-4-2-2-3-2-2-3-2-2-2-1 sequence, held to engine-turned polished comb bar with petit blued screws, wide double blade governor with further blued screws, thin cylinder micro-pinned, in gold and enamel decorated case, with the lid bearing oval panel with relief five-string lyre flanked by arrows, cobalt and clipper blue enamel touches, oak leaf and vertical septuplet wave-line ground, the interior with flat snuff compartment, the inside of the lid engraved with From A Sincere Friend the border with wide band of petals, leaves and acorn heads further highlighted with cobalt blue enamel, repeated to front, back, sides and underside, base edges with lozenge bars, flower head corners, start/stop button front-center, with a later key - 3.1/8in. wide, the cylinder 2in. wide, the diameter 3/8in.
