A rare coin-operated 'Forte Piccolo Timbres Dansenses' buffet cylinder music box, by Mermod Fréres,
circa 1880, retailed by Samuel Troll,
playing eight dance and waltz airs, with left crank-wind double-spring motor, stamped single-section comb to the right of the eight-tooth bell-en-vue select, three dancing dolls on red velvet covered platform forward of the reeded cast gilt bedplate, the vertical plain polished nickel-plated buffet bells, the four mandarin strikers each with painted jester attire including yellow pentagon hats and bunting collars with red and light blue drapes, holding ball hammers in each hand, independently actuated, on sloped ebonised soundboard, coloured J. Cuendet tunesheet to backboard, in part ebonised case, broken arch pediment, triple finial top, glazed front with Musique automate Mettez 10 Cent banner, flanked by half-turned columns, finely fretted panels to sides and lower front, quarter bobbin moulded plinth -
