Gavin Trippe's SMRR, a Husky like no other
2009 Husqvarna 450 SMRR Road Racer
Frame no. ZKHA222AB9V051216
Engine no. 1427B/1 1 8A0099952
Gavin Trippe was one of the first to recognize the appeal of production-based Superbike road racing, giving the fledgling class exposure in 1973 when he included it on the bill at the Laguna Seca AMA National.
Concerned with the spiraling cost of competition, Trippe proposed a new race bike, one based on single-cylinder 450cc motocrossers that almost every manufacturer now produces. Engine and frame remain largely as-is, and with simple modifications to suspension and brakes, plus the addition of aerodynamic bodywork, a lightweight and affordable entry-class Formula 450 road racer is born.
This Husqvarna, ready to race, is based on the company's limited-edition 450 SMRR as seen in supermotard competition and at the X-Games. It features a six-speed transmission, slipper clutch, twin titanium exhaust pipes and a standard electric starter. Included in the sale are road racing spare parts and the original supermotard components. Offered on a Bill of Sale.
