The French singer and actress Marianne Oswald (1901-1985) started her career in Berlin, but with the rise of Nazism, moved to Paris in 1931, singing in Le Bouef sur le Toit, the restaurant popularised by Cocteau, Picasso and their circle. She starred in the 1958 film Anna la Bonne, based on a poem by Cocteau and produced by the iconic filmmaker François Truffaut.
