The hinged trellis sheet music rests, with two brass extending candle sconces on a fluted column and hinged outsplayed legs on brass cappings and ball feet, with a brass label 'ERARD'S/LONDON' to the top, stamped 'I45' to under one of the hinged legs, 119cm wide, 35cm deep, 53cm high (46.5" wide, 13.5" deep, 20.5" high).

  • Pierre Erard traded from Great Marlborough Street in 1826-27 and later Little Portland Street between from 1837 where he traded as a pianoforte and music stand maker.

    An identical music stand in satinbirch is illustrated in C.Gilbert, The Pictorial Dictionary of English Furniture, 1770-1840, London 1996, p.195, pl.326. A penwork music stand by Erard was sold Bonhams, London, Fine English Furniture and Works of Art, 18 November 2009, lot 129 which related to a music stand inscribed 'ERARDS, 18 G Marlborough Str. LONDON, in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
