A small archive of a Private Secretary to His Royal Highness The Duke of Windsor and The Duchess of Windsor,
consisting: a 14 carat gold mechanical pencil, by Cartier, engraved pattern number 767, modelled as a bamboo twig and engraved with the cipher of the Duchess of Windsor, cased, length 10cm, weight all-in 26.7g, a 14 carat gold penknife, by Cartier, with pull-out extending pencil, nail file and stainless blade, the plain gold case engraved with the crowned entwined W E cipher, the reverse, "V. A. W. Christmas 1949," cased, length 7.5cm, weight all-in 33.3g, a silver beaker, by Albert Schiffmacher, Paris, circa 1957, engraved with the ciphers of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and "Merry Christmas 1957," raised on a reeded foot, height 12cm, weight 5.4 oz, a burr walnut, mahogany and ivorine strung humidor, the cover with stylised ivorine strapwork inlaid into burr walnut veneer with rounded mahogany edges, the underside stamped, "El Rico Habano a su Excellencia, H. R. H. The Duke of Windsor, K.G., etc etc Government House Nassau," length 37cm, six crested note cards, each signed by both the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, six glass goblets engraved with the cipher of Edward, Prince of Wales, height 11cm, A King's Story, The Memoirs of H. R. H. The Duke of Windsor KG (Cassell 1951), with library label signed Edward, The Heart has its Reasons, memoirs of the Duchess of Windsor (Michael Joseph 1957), and two copies of Histoire d'un Roi, (Amiot-Dumont 1951).

  • This archive is being offered by a descendant of Mr Victor Waddilove, Private Secretary to His Royal Highness The Duke of Windsor and the Duchess of Windsor, betweeen 1947 and 57. At this time, the Windsors lived in the Bois de Boulogne.
