a hand painted carved wooden figure of a Lion Tamer standing next to a seated lion, with backdrop, having Frank Nelson label to rear, mounted on a wooden base with inner working, with maker's label to verso, on small rubber feet - base 8.1/2 x 5.1/2in. (22 x 14cm), and 13.3/4in. (35cm) high.

Footnotes

  • When handle is turned the Tamer cracks his whip once and gets a refusal from the lion who shakes is head from side to side whilst his tail rotates, this is repeated with two cracks of the whip and two shakes of the head, but on the third time of cracking his whip the lion accepts the command, nods his head and does his trick - putting his head into the Tamers mouth.
