Tanaka School, 19th century
Of rounded rectangular form with raised rim, carved in takabori and shishiaibori with a frightened tiger in a storm, slight gold details, signed Rakusei Toshiharu with inlaid gold kao.
8.9cm (3½in).

    Provenance: W.W. Winkworth collection, 1960.

    The tsuba is accompanied by a certificate by Dr Kazutaro Torigoe, dated 1965, stating that it is the genuine work of Toshiharu.
