Footnotes

  • 木彫根付 猿の舟引き 銘「東雨」 18世紀

There were five sword-fitting makers named Tsuchiya Yasuchika, working in Nara from the latter part of the 17th century to the middle of the 9th century. It is believed that the few netsuke thus signed or with the go Tou were produced by the first or second masters: see The Meinertzhagen Card Index, pp.972-3.
