Footnotes

  • Ferdinand Verger (1851 – 1928) was the founder of the company and a master watchmaker and jeweler. In 1879 he became the French agent for Vacheron & Constantin and towards the end of the 19th century his two sons, started working for the business.
Their master pieces are amongst the most original designs of the Art Deco period, and they specialize in elaborate timepieces. The business relationship between Verger and Vacheron Constantin later developed into a partnership but they also made for Cartier, Boucheron and other prestigious houses.
The rarest finest of the Art Deco pieces are stamped with a lozenge baring the initials 'VF' and on this particular example the mark can be found on the inside caseback.
