Possibly by John Simpson III, of plain round form with a piecrust rim, moulded in the centre with maker's initials I.S within a circle, the cream ground simply trailed with thin brown streaks, 33.5cm diam (a fine crack)

  • The moulded initials, although indistinct, can be read as I.S. Other trailed and combed slipware dishes have been recorded with these initials and it has been suggested these relate to the Staffordshire potter John Simpson III (1685-1774).
