A fine Staffordshire pearlware Sailor Toby Jug
circa 1790
With underglaze colouring, modelled seated upon a chest, wearing a brown hat, pale straw-coloured jacket, the buttons of his white waistcoat picked out in blue, his trousers painted in blue with rectangular cell-pattern, holding a foaming jug in his right hand, also painted in blue with a flower sprig and border, a cup in the other, the base moulded with leaves and washed in green, 28cm high
